LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL

The rattling lockers slam shut,
A high pitched ring is barely heard
Over the echoes of laughter
And a fuss of words.
The exchange of answers
And complaints about grades,
Jokes and smiles,
Glances and waves.
All year long,
The familiar corridors
Not in the classrooms,
But here, where we really learn.
The halls tell of the past,
Friendships were made
Memories exchanged
We hope they last.
Until the final day,
When its time to say goodbye
To the clocks, the lockers
And fluorescent lit sky.
To our teachers, our friends,
To this school, cheers.
Thank you, hallways,
For the last four years.
But what lies ahead,
Is exciting and new
The hallway continues
This is not the end.
